Welcome to EV Adventure Maps
A map that shows you where you can go, great for trip planning when you want to know where you can get to for an adventure.
Change Log
New in Version 1.1 (2/23/24) - Added route function, you can search for a driving route, after it will plot all DC chargers along the path
How to Use This Tool
Here's a quick guide on how to use this tool effectively:
- Understanding Map Colors: Red indicates areas you cannot reach with public chargers (such as Level 3 or Level 2 chargers). Yellow means you can reach these locations using a public Level 2 charger only.
- Controllable Variables: These variables control the boundaries of the red and yellow areas on the map:
- Estimated arrival State of Charge (or battery percentage).
- Battery size: The size of your EV's battery in kW.
- Avg miles per kW: The general estimated miles per kW of electricity.
- You can click on the map to see the route used for estimating the distance.
- Use this tool for trip planning, whether for in-and-out adventures or scoping out reachable places.
- Control the charger type to select between generic fast chargers or Tesla fast chargers, depending on available adaptors or plug types.
Disclaimer: This tool is for illustrative purposes only and has not been validated at scale. It is a trip planning aid, and users should utilize other software and tools for complete validation.
Why Signup?
Signup helps limit API abuse. Longer term, the goal is to allow users to better plan their trips. Non-signed-in users can view the default map, but signing up (for free) allows access to all computed maps.
Known Limitations
- The dataset is currently limited to North America, mostly the US, with some stations in Canada and Mexico.
- Routes are only used for the Western US; a straight-line path is used elsewhere.
- Occasional inaccuracies where the map shows red despite the presence of an EV charger are being addressed.
- Stations may be incorrect, non-operational, or non-existent, as this is based on a public dataset.
